Ganguly stars in Pune win by 20 runs over Delhi

A terrific knock by Jesse Ryder and an all-round show from Captain Sourav Ganguly helped Pune Warriors register a comfortable 20-run win over Delhi Daredevils.

Delhi Daredevils won the toss and elected to field, Pune scored 192/3 - courtesy 86 from Ryder, 41 from Ganguly and a cameo of 34* from Steven Smith.

Pune then successfully defended the total, restricted the Daredevils to 172/7 in 20 overs. Credit should be given to Sourav Ganguly who bowled at a critical stage and ended with notable figures of 2/27, including the wicket of dangerman Kevin Pietersen and another one Irfan Pathan.

Seamer Alfonso Thomas, playing his first match, did a fine job with figures of three for 22. This was Pune's fourth win from seven games.

Delhi captain Virender Sehwag hit 57 from only 32 balls but once he was out, the chances of victory were as good as gone. The 18th over in the Pune innings bowled by Shahbaz Nadeem that yielded 23 runs turned out to be the game-changing over.
